CURRICULUM:

Religion: The students will have optimal opportunity to grow in their relationship of faith and life with God. Students will learn a spiritual truth, a spiritual attitude, and a spiritual habit will be developed through study of the Bible, answering questions in their workbooks, role playing, memory work, and taking part in chapel. They will be leading as well as being a part of the congregation.

Language Arts: Sixth graders will continue imaginative and expository writing. Emphasis will be placed on revision and correct use of grammar and conventions. Examples of writing will include summaries, book reports, essays, and research projects.

Math: Sixth grade math continues to build on basic math operations and facts, ratios, decimals, probability, and pre-algebra. Sixth grade concentrates more on geometry concepts and higher-level thinking skills, as well as developing an understanding of the relationship between decimals, fractions, and percents.

Social Studies: Sixth graders continue their study of key events in both World History and U.S. History. The curriculum also takes a look at governmental involvement in business in the United States. By connecting past civilizations, key events in history, and current issues students will have a better understanding of how they impact our lives.

Science: Sixth graders will learn about the world in which they live through observation, experimentation, and discovery. Students will become contributing members of today's scientific and technological society, and take an active role in the protection and preservation of the world around them.

Physical Education: Sixth graders will work on multiple sequencing of movement and manipulative patterns to games, sports, and physical fitness activities. Social as well as coping skills are more important as much of the activity involves game and team oriented play.
